In this first episode of Noir, we're introduced to the two main characters, Mireille, a female assassin for hire, and Kirika Yumura, a girl who can kill people very easily, but is unable to feel remorse and does not know who or what she is. Given a fake identity as Kirika, she pleads with Mireille to help her find about her past. The two team up under the pseudonym of Noir. |

Following the murder of a police official, Mireille and Kirika receive a job to assassinate the Director of France's National Public Peace Department. He is in a conspiracy with a terrorist group, the People's Armed Alliance, who was responsible for the murder of the policeman, a member of the National anti-terrorism Unit. After observing their target, the two agree to take the contract. |

After encountering a gray-haired woman while visiting a grave in a cemetary Mireille and Kirika are hired to kill a business man, Albert Dux. By coincidence it seems, their client is the same gray-haired woman. When an opportunity arises for them to carry out the contract, Mireille and Kirika take it. On arriving at the location where the assassination is to take place, however, a surprise awaits them. |

Continuing on with their next assignment, Mireille and Kirika travel to Ulgia to assassinate two employees of the Atride Corporation, who are setting up a coup d'etat with another political faction. With that accomplished, they set their sights on 3 more members of the organization that are also to be killed including the President. |

A friend of Mireille's, Vanel, and his entire family are murdered after Mireille asks him to help find some answers about the people who are trying to kill Noir. He leaves her a clue, in the form of a message imprinted on a bottle. After cracking the puzzle, Mireille goes to St. Galen's Cathedral where she discovers an envelope containing a photocopy that Vanel had left her. Leaving the Cathedral, however, she soon has a gun pointed at her head. With the help of Kirika, they defeat the assailants, and learn of the name of their 'enemy'. |
