12 - THE LAST STAND
Cleopatra is given her first gauntlet which has been coloured pink
to match her outfit. The celebrations are cut short as an emergency
message comes through from J.Lawson. J.Lawson is a well know fighter
and the team quickly scramble to his location. They bust in and
the battle continues, they slowly make their way to Lawson who explains
the current situation to them.
There
is enough plutonium in the room to level the place, and it will
gain a good price on the black market. He is trying to re-establish
the shield which hid it from peoples views. Another man is desperately
trying to figure out the mechanism, when a stray shot destroys a
vital piece of the shield mechanism. Cleo's new gauntlet contains
a shield, which she reluctantly gives away to help re-establish
the plutonium shield. The gauntlet mechanism works, but it means
that the switch will have to be activated manually, and whoever
presses the switch is stuck the wrong side of the shield. Everyone
draws wires, and J.Lawson ends up with the shortest one. Sarge approaches
him and remarks how that was the oldest trick in the book, and he
replies that it was better that he was the one to stay behind and
press the button than anyone else.
The
switch is ready. Everyone escapes and J.Lawson hits the switch and
is stuck behind the shield. Meanwhile the others try and find a
way to get J.Lawson out of the shield. Mauser talks to the guy who
set the shield up and it is discover that the shield is not being
projected through the floor so escape is possible via the tunnel
that leads into the room. Only when he has said that he remembers
that J.Lawson just seemed to appear in the room, maybe he knew about
the tunnels.
Suddenly
it begins to become clear. They have been used. J.Lawson is out
for himself, he wants to sell the plutonium and live an easy life.
Sarge heads back to the shield and enters the room via the tunnels.
J.Lawson is surprised and goes for his gun. Sarge kicks him around
a bit, and each time they end up in a stand off, eventually Sarge
plucks up the courage and shoots him. One shot and he is dead, Sarge
leaves disappointed.
