After many years, Mireille decides to visit Corsica for the first time since she and her uncle were forced to leave. In search of more information about the death of her family, Mireille comes across apprehension from many of the people who seem to recognize her. When she's finally given information about the whereabouts of a close friend of her father's, whom she thought to be dead, the truth about her family and the Soldats leaves her in even more despair. |

Still reeling from the revelations in Corsica, Mireille, knowing that Kirika is part of the True Noir needs time to absorb everything, asking Kirika to get out of her sight. Now out on her own, Kirika gets contacted by a faction of the Soldats opposing Altena and Chloe, and is on the verge of receiving a great deal of information about the Soldats. When Chloe informs her that Mireille is in danger, however, she is forced to decide between information about the Soldats and the life of her friend. |

When their search for information about the Soldats leads to a dead end, Mireille receives an e-mail from a professor about the photocopy she sent to him. When Kirika and Mireille meet him, he reveals to them that the photocopy came from a document called the Langonel Manuscript that was transcribed from an even more ancient book. Following the last trail of the copies that were made, the two head off to Austria. What they find there, however, is not resolution, but events that lead to even more troubling questions. |

Altena sends Chloe to meet Kirika for one last time to give her the "final guidance". Meanwhile, a rival faction within the Soldats hear how Chloe is on the move and decide to make their own. With their 'knights' closing in to eliminate Kirika and Mireille before Chloe can reach them, will the two assassins be able to hold their own until Chloe arrives? And what exactly does this final guidance entail? |
